Smart sensors for deep insights into machine conditions

  • Condition monitoring for early detection of faults
  • Enhanced diagnostic capability through acquisition of speed, temperature and vibration in a single sensor
  • Trend analyses and condition key performance indicators for plannable maintenance windows and service life predictions
  • Event-based recording with limit value monitoring and alarming
  • Lenord+Bauer supports you in integrating into your Industry 4.0 and IIoT concepts

Understanding data: transparent machine conditions, plannable maintenance

Machine conditions often remain opaque during operation, maintenance is carried out reactively and downtime occurs unplanned. Individual measurements without clear correlation make diagnosis more difficult when speed, temperature and vibration are not acquired simultaneously. Without event-based recording, limit values and alarms, reliable foundations for trend analyses and service life predictions are lacking. Furthermore, different controllers and heterogeneous interfaces complicate connection to existing machine infrastructure and the implementation of Industry 4.0 and IIoT approaches.

Smart sensors acquire speed, temperature and vibration synchronously in a single device, evaluate events locally and provide trendable key performance indicators with limit value monitoring. Open interfaces enable direct connection to controllers and existing visualization systems, making conditions transparent in real time and maintenance plannable.

One sensor for speed, position and vibration

Damage to spindle bearings, imbalance or chatter is often detected too late. Measured values from separate sensors are difficult to correlate in time, additional components increase wiring and integration effort and raise the probability of failure.

With the GEL MIO10, speed, position and vibration can be acquired with a single sensor. The synchronously acquired data enables unambiguous correlation of events, making irregularities visible at an early stage.

Less hardware also means fewer cables, connectors and interfaces, resulting in lower EMC susceptibility, shorter commissioning time and lower lifecycle costs.

Limit value monitoring, event-based recording and trendable condition key performance indicators support plannable, condition-based maintenance and direct connection to the machine controller.

Condition data directly in the NC

Digital MiniCODER transmit speed and condition information directly to the NC, without additional gateways and using the respective manufacturer protocol. Supported protocols are Mitsubishi, Fanuc and BiSS-C. Condition data is thus immediately available in the controller for alarms, diagnostics and service.

Data provision for IIoT

Inconsistent interfaces and missing semantics slow down networking and make it difficult to maintain stable data flows. Lenord+Bauer supports you in designing a suitable interface architecture and relies on established standards such as OPC UA.

As a umati member, we actively participate in the development of OPC UA-based information models that simplify data exchange between machine tools and higher-level systems and enable project-specific, future-proof solutions.
