60 years of innovation, precision and trust

Lenord+Bauer looks back on 60 years of company history: From its beginnings as a provider of counters and bottle testing machines for industries in the Ruhr region of Germany, the company has grown to become a global specialist for motion sensors and integrated drive technology.

The company’s history began in 1965 in the basement of the home of one of the four founding partners. Today, Lenord+Bauer has its headquarters in Oberhausen and production facilities in Gladbeck, and has subsidiaries in China, Italy, India and the USA. Its sensors and positioning drives are also marketed worldwide via a network of sales partners. With a turnover of just under €40 million and around 240 employees, the company is a reliable medium-sized enterprise.

Managing partners Dr. Matthias Lenord and Dr. Rudo Grimm are the team leading the family business into the future. Their guiding principle is the company slogan “Finding Solutions. Founding Trust.” “It is important to me to establish a close link between the values of my Christian faith and entrepreneurship. That is why collaboration based on trust plays such a key role for me – with business partners and, of course, especially with employees,” says Matthias Lenord.

Rudo Grimm adds: “We develop solutions that address our customers’ most important challenges. Our new positioning drive is a good example: It was developed as a result of intensive dialog with users. We wanted to find out: “What really matters to you?” The feedback we received was incorporated directly into our product development process. We are also breaking new ground in order to address market potential at an early stage. To this end, we are working specifically with start-ups and universities. Currently, for example, we are working on the development of an external rotor electric motor with cast stator coils.”
