| Retrofitting of circular saw control |
|
|
The task:
The outdated control system for the circular saw was to be given a cost-effective, long-term
upgrade.
Aim:
Method of solution:
Debarked tree trunks are transported to the plant on a roller bed. After sorting, they are then
taken automatically to the saw unit. This consists essentially of two saw blades arranged laterally
and adjusted by means of an AC drive and a contra-rotating spindle.
Absolute encoders with parallel interface were used for position sensing. The manufacturer had
ceased production of the controller and the angle encoders were old technology.
Our solution:
Lenord+Bauer developed a complete solution as the sensors were beyond repair and converting the
controller to new sensor technology was too costly. An absolute angle encoder with SSI interface is
used for position sensing. Positioning is done using the following signals: rapid feed, creep feed,
forward, reverse and stop. The control system was adapted in such a way that operation remains
virtually unchanged as far as the machine operator is concerned.
Our service offering:
- Problem analysis
- Complete process engineering
- Project management
- Software programming
- On-site commissioning
Customer benefits:
- Cost-efficient solution using modern technology
- Simpler for operating personnel
Why Lenord + Bauer?
- Technically very sophisticated problem solving competence
- Cost-efficient solution
